Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Two women promenading, with men and women in the background by Constantin Guys was auctioned at Christies in New York in September 2017, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 1,000.00 – 2,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 625.00 (€ 529.08). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Constantin Guys achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Elegant Company At A Ball; And Two Elegant Couples Walking In Winter in July 2001 with an auction result of GBP 10,575.00 (€ 17,220.62).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Two women promenading, with men and women in the background von Constantin Guys im September 2017 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 1.000,00 – 2.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 625,00 (€ 529,08) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Constantin Guys erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Elegant Company At A Ball; And Two Elegant Couples Walking In Winter im Juli 2001 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 10.575,00 (€ 17.220,62).
