Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Houston Westland Mount Everest Flight: 'Mount Everest (left) and Makalu seen over the tail of the aeroplane, taken on return from the second flight' by Latham Valentine Stewart Blacker was auctioned at Christies in London in September 2007. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 2,250.00 (€ 3,226.33) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Latham Valentine Stewart Blacker - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Houston Westland Mount Everest Flight: 'Mount Everest with its snow plume.'; 'Makalu 27,790 feet.'; and 'Chamlang. Ten miles south of Everest.', which sold at auction in September 2007 for GBP 5,625.00 (€ 8,065.84).
