In September 2004 Christies in London held the auction 19th Century European Art, which included the work Skaters By A German Hamlet by Cölestin Brügner. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 2,270.50 (€ 3,307.83), 26% above the upper estimate. With this result, Skaters By A German Hamlet is even the most expensive work of art by Cölestin Brügner that we have observed at auctions so far.
