Auction result misses estimated price range

When the work A vew of the Ile de la cite and the Pont neuf from Pont des Arts or Quai de Conti by Clive Madgwick was auctioned at Christies in London in October 2014, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 1,200.00 – 1,800.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 1,000.00 (€ 1,276.86). Other works by Clive Madgwick have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in May 2014 by the work Bringing The Cows Home at GBP 1,500.00 (€ 1,843.55).
