This artwork by Clementine Hunter achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bonhams in New York in May 2021. In the Post-War & Contemporary Art auction, the work The Courtroom sold for USD 12,112.50 (€ 9,933.16) - well above the upper estimate of USD 6,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Clementine Hunter - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Clementine In Her Flower Garden, 1984, which sold at auction in January 2021 for USD 32,500.00 (€ 26,782.04).
