This artwork by Clementine Hunter achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in January 2020. In the Outsider Art auction, the work Funeral, 1957 sold for USD 17,500.00 (€ 15,775.71) - well above the upper estimate of USD 10,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Clementine Hunter; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Clementine In Her Flower Garden, 1984 sold at auction in January 2021 with the realized price of USD 32,500.00 (€ 26,782.04).
