In the Old Master Pictures and Drawings auction, the work A mountainous river landscape with travellers near a waterfall, a watermill nearby; and A mountainous river landscape with peasants near a well, a castle on a hill nearby sold for EUR 11,650.00 - well above the upper estimate of EUR 5,000.00. Admittedly, works by Christian Georg Schütz The Elder have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A Rhenish landscape with peasants talking by a track, figures on a bridge and a village beyond; and A Rhenish landscape with figures on a track, a hilltop village beyond in April 2002 with an auction result of GBP 45,410.00 (€ 73,472.19).
