Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2007 Christies in Amsterdam held the auction Old Master Pictures and Drawings, which included the work A wooded river landscape with travellers by a ruined gothic church by Christian Georg Schütz The Elder. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of EUR 7,000.00 – 10,000.00, the actual price achieved of EUR 7,450.00 could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Christian Georg Schütz The Elder have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A Rhenish landscape with peasants talking by a track, figures on a bridge and a village beyond; and A Rhenish landscape with figures on a track, a hilltop village beyond in April 2002 with an auction result of GBP 45,410.00 (€ 73,472.19).
Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Christian Georg Schütz The Elder auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A Rhenish landscape with peasants talking by a track, figures on a bridge and a village beyond; and A Rhenish landscape with figures on a track, a hilltop village beyond im April 2002 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 45.410,00 (€ 73.472,19).
