Artwork auctioned at five times the upper estimate price
The work State of Being (Books) by Chiharu Shiota was worth HKD 1,500,000.00 (€ 171,646.45) to a buyer in January last year. This price was achieved in the auction 20th/21st Century Art Online Sale at Christies and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of HKD 300,000.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Chiharu Shiota; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot State of Being sold at auction in July 2021 with the realized price of GBP 287,500.00 (€ 337,153.36).

Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Chiharu Shiota; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit State of Being im Juli 2021 mit dem Hammerpreis von GBP 287.500,00 (€ 337.153,36).
