The »bidding war« ended at GBP 12,600.00 (€ 14,938.72), 58% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Charles-Théodore Frère achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Grande caravane de La Mecque in December 2018 with an auction result of EUR 195,000.00.

Die Arbeit Arrival of a Caravan outside Cairo von Charles-Théodore Frère wurde im März letzten Jahres in der Auktion The Orientalist Sale bei Sothebys in London versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 12.600,00 (€ 14.938,72) und damit 58% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Charles-Théodore Frère erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Grande caravane de La Mecque im Dezember 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 195.000,00.
