Auction result well in line with expectations
In July 2019 Christies in London held the auction Old Master and British Drawings and Watercolours Including Works from the Collection of Jean Bonna, which included the work Portrait of an elegant young woman, at bust-length, with roses in her hair by Charles-Nicolas Cochin the Younger. The price achieved of GBP 5,000.00 (€ 5,489.67) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. Admittedly, works by Charles-Nicolas Cochin the Younger have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A seated couple playing backgammon by candlelight in July 2003 with an auction result of GBP 33,460.00 (€ 43,734.48).
