In May 2011 Christies in London held the auction Maritime Art, which included the work Dutch hoys and a warship at anchor off the Low countries by Charles Martin Powell. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 3,500.00 (€ 4,002.26), 17% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Charles Martin Powell have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A Dutch Merchantman And Other Shipping Passing A British Frigate Anchored Off The Dutch Coast in November 2001 with an auction result of GBP 15,275.00 (€ 24,307.34).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Mai 2011 führte Christies in London die Auktion Maritime Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Dutch hoys and a warship at anchor off the Low countries von Charles Martin Powell zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 3.500,00 (€ 4.002,26) und damit 17% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Charles Martin Powell auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A Dutch Merchantman And Other Shipping Passing A British Frigate Anchored Off The Dutch Coast im November 2001 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 15.275,00 (€ 24.307,34).
