A top price for Charles Herbert Eastlake - as previously expected
In October 2002 Christies in London held the auction British and Continental Pictures, which included the work Riverside cottages at twilight by Charles Herbert Eastlake. The price achieved of GBP 1,645.00 (€ 2,602.10) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 1,200.00 – 1,800.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Riverside cottages at twilight is the most expensive artwork by Charles Herbert Eastlake that we have observed at auctions so far.
