In October 2018 Sothebys in New York held the auction American Art Online, which included the work Sailing by Charles Henry Gifford. The result of USD 5,000.00 (€ 4,412.28) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of USD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Charles Henry Gifford - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Lake George, which sold at auction in September 2004 for USD 20,315.00 (€ 16,360.63).
Zuschlag beim unteren Schätzpreis
Im Oktober 2018 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion American Art Online durch, in der auch die Arbeit Sailing von Charles Henry Gifford zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von USD 5.000,00 (€ 4.412,28) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 5.000,00 – 7.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Charles Henry Gifford mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Lake George beobachtet, die im September 2004 für USD 20.315,00 (€ 16.360,63) versteigert wurde.
