In May this year Bonhams held the auction Studio Art | Bonhams Skinner, which included the work Seated Nude by Charles Alston. The »bidding war« ended at USD 701.25 (€ 658.20), 40% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Charles Alston achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Troubadour in May last year with an auction result of USD 189,000.00 (€ 176,125.24).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 40 % übertroffen
Im Mai diesen Jahres führte Bonhams die Auktion Studio Art | Bonhams Skinner durch, in der auch die Arbeit Seated Nude von Charles Alston zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 701,25 (€ 658,20) und damit 40% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Charles Alston erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Troubadour im Mai letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 189.000,00 (€ 176.125,24).
