This work of art by Charles Hancock could be acquired at Sothebys in New York in December 2008 for an unexpectedly low price. In the The Sporting Sale: Equestrian, Wildlife & Maritime Art auction, the work British A Gentleman On His Hunter In A Landscape changed hands for USD 11,250.00 (€ 8,082.48) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 12,000.00 – 18,000.00. Other works by Charles Hancock have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in March 2004 by the work Portrait of Lord Kinnaird and Richard Williams deerstalking in Falah forest at GBP 7,170.00 (€ 10,732.83).
