Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Recto And Verso: Study For Susannah And The Elders by Charles de La Fosse was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in April 2018, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 3,500.00 (€ 2,898.79). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Charles de La Fosse achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Le Christ et les pélerins d'Emmaüs in September 2020 with an auction result of EUR 370,000.00.
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Recto And Verso: Study For Susannah And The Elders von Charles de La Fosse im April 2018 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 3.500,00 (€ 2.898,79) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Charles de La Fosse erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Le Christ et les pélerins d'Emmaüs im September 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 370.000,00.
