Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work The Letter by Charles Bestland was auctioned at Sothebys in London in September 2019, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 600.00 – 800.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 375.00 (€ 423.14). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Charles Bestland achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work William Frederick, Duke of Gloucester (1776-1834), In The Uniform of The First Regiment of Guards, Scarlet Coat With Gold-Bordered Blue Facings And Gold Epaulettes, Gold Gorget, Black Stock And Frilled Cravat, Powdered Hair in November 2006 with an auction result of GBP 7,200.00 (€ 10,692.23).
Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit William Frederick, Duke of Gloucester (1776-1834), In The Uniform of The First Regiment of Guards, Scarlet Coat With Gold-Bordered Blue Facings And Gold Epaulettes, Gold Gorget, Black Stock And Frilled Cravat, Powdered Hair im November 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 7.200,00 (€ 10.692,23).
