Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Portrait of a gentleman, half-length, in a black suit, white shirt and chequered bow tie by Cesare Saccaggi was auctioned at Christies in London in March 2008, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 300.00 – 500.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 250.00 (€ 314.06). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Cesare Saccaggi achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Girls In A Meadow in November 2006 with an auction result of GBP 9,600.00 (€ 14,256.30).
