Auction result well in line with expectations
The work M. Paul Lessar, 'The Afghan Frontier' Civil Engineer and Russian Diplomat by Carlo Pellegrini was sold in the JOHN FRANKS COLL. OF ORIGINAL WATERCOLOURS FOR VANITY FAIR auction at Christies in London in December 2005. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 1,500.00 – 2,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 1,560.00 (€ 2,264.25) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Carlo Pellegrini - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Adelboden, which sold at auction in January 2016 for GBP 5,625.00 (€ 7,365.68).
