Auction result well in line with expectations

In December 2005 Christies in London held the auction JOHN FRANKS COLL. OF ORIGINAL WATERCOLOURS FOR VANITY FAIR, which included the work Colonel Lewis Guy Phillips Grenadier Guardsman by Carlo Pellegrini. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 1,200.00 – 1,800.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 1,320.00 (€ 1,915.91) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Carlo Pellegrini - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Adelboden, which sold at auction in January 2016 for GBP 5,625.00 (€ 7,365.68).
