Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2002 Christies in London held the auction British Art on Paper including Original Book Illustrations, which included the work The beach at high tide by Carleton Grant. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 300.00 – 500.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 329.00 (€ 505.03) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Carleton Grant have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A Welcome Home (Illustrated); And Cooking The Catch in December 2007 with an auction result of GBP 1,625.00 (€ 2,208.10).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Dezember 2002 führte Christies in London die Auktion British Art on Paper including Original Book Illustrations durch, in der auch die Arbeit The beach at high tide von Carleton Grant zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 300,00 – 500,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 329,00 (€ 505,03) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Carleton Grant auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A Welcome Home (Illustrated); And Cooking The Catch im Dezember 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 1.625,00 (€ 2.208,10).
