The work Vue De La Mer De Glace Et De L'Hospital De Blair Du Somet Du Montanvert Dans Le Mois D'Aoust 1781; And Vue De La Valée De Chamouny Pris Pres D'Argentiere 1780 by Carl Ludwig Hackert was worth GBP 4,541.00 (€ 4,079.77) to a buyer in April 2004. This price was achieved in the auction Travel and Natural History at Christies in London and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 1,500.00 many times over. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Carl Ludwig Hackert - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A View of Lausanne, which sold at auction in October 2012 for GBP 7,500.00 (€ 9,324.93).
