Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Beirut by Carl Kauffman was sold in the 19th Century European Art Including Orientalist Art auction at Christies in London in September 2012. The price achieved of GBP 3,750.00 (€ 4,705.58) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Carl Kauffman - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Trading vessels before the Molo, Venice, which sold at auction in September 2012 for GBP 7,500.00 (€ 9,411.17).
