A top price for Carl Joseph Geiger - as previously expected
In November 2002 Christies in London held the auction 19th Century European Art Including Orientalist Pictures, which included the work Mozart directing imaginary actors from the operas 'Don Giovanni' and 'The Magic Flute' by Carl Joseph Geiger. The price achieved of GBP 2,585.00 (€ 4,047.98) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Mozart directing imaginary actors from the operas 'Don Giovanni' and 'The Magic Flute' is the most expensive artwork by Carl Joseph Geiger that we have observed at auctions so far.
