The »bidding war« ended at GBP 2,268.00 (€ 2,533.56), 51% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Carl-Christian Kanz - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Portrait Of A Gentleman, Circa 1795, which sold at auction in December 2019 for GBP 5,625.00 (€ 6,648.09).

Die Arbeit Portrait of a gentleman, circa 1800 von Carl-Christian Kanz wurde im Dezember 2020 in der Auktion Old Master and British Works on Paper, including Portrait Miniatures from the Pohl-Ströher Collection bei Sothebys in London versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 2.268,00 (€ 2.533,56) und damit 51% über dem oberen Schätzpreis.
