Auction result well in line with expectations
In September 2006 Christies in London held the auction Exploration and Travel with the Polar Sale Including The Amundsen Collection, which included the work Mount Sabine in Latitude 71°.50' South and Longitude 169°.00' East - West 40 miles -- Discovered by H.M. Ships Erebus and Terror Jany 11th 1841 by John Edward Davis. The price achieved of GBP 4,800.00 (€ 7,081.01) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John Edward Davis - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work H.M. Ships Erebus And Terror In The Ross Sea, which sold at auction in October 2012 for GBP 15,000.00 (€ 18,649.87).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im September 2006 führte Christies in London die Auktion Exploration and Travel with the Polar Sale Including The Amundsen Collection durch, in der auch die Arbeit Mount Sabine in Latitude 71°.50' South and Longitude 169°.00' East - West 40 miles -- Discovered by H.M.
