Auction result misses estimated price range
In April 2001 a collector was able to acquire the work Mixed flowers in a vase by Camille Matisse for GBP 493.50 (€ 795.58). This price was achieved in the auction British & Continental Pictures at Christies in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 500.00 – 700.00 set by the auction house. Other works by Camille Matisse have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in February 2002 by the work Chrysanthemums And Cornflowers In A Vase at GBP 646.25 (€ 1,054.62).
