This artwork by Bui Xuan Phai achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bonhams in Hong Kong in October this year. In the Southeast Asian Modern & Contemporary Art auction, the work Village Scene sold for HKD 48,640.00 (€ 5,882.09) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 25,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Bui Xuan Phai achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Houses in May 2021 with an auction result of HKD 1,625,000.00 (€ 171,775.05).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 95 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Bui Xuan Phai erzielte im Oktober diesen Jahres bei Bonhams in Hong Kong einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Southeast Asian Modern & Contemporary Art wurde die Arbeit Village Scene für HKD 48.640,00 (€ 5.882,09) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von HKD 25.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Bui Xuan Phai erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Houses im Mai 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 1.625.000,00 (€ 171.775,05).
