Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In June 2002 Christies in London held the auction British Art on Paper including Original Book Illustrations, which included the work A study of a gentleman smoking a cigar by Bruce Bairnsfather. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 600.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 646.25 (€ 999.60). Other works by Bruce Bairnsfather have achieved even higher prices, we observed the highest auction result so far of GBP 1,500.00 (€ 1,707.83) in March 2018 for the work If Only They’D Make ‘Old Bill’ President Of Those Tribunals ('Well What'S Your Job Me Lad?' | 'Making Spots For Rocking Horses, Sir' | 'Three Months' | 'Exemption, Sir?' | 'Nao!
