Artwork auctioned at five times the upper estimate price
When the work Tudl-Tur (Sun Elk) by Bert Geer Phillips was auctioned at Bonhams in April this year, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - USD 8,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than five times as high at USD 41,955.00 (€ 38,002.72). Admittedly, works by Bert Geer Phillips have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Magic Deer Song in May last year with an auction result of USD 378,000.00 (€ 352,250.49).
Kunstwerk zum Fünffachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Tudl-Tur (Sun Elk) von Bert Geer Phillips im April diesen Jahres bei Bonhams versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – USD 8.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit USD 41.955,00 (€ 38.002,72) mehr als fünfmal so hoch. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Bert Geer Phillips auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Magic Deer Song im Mai letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 378.000,00 (€ 352.250,49).
