This artwork by Benjamin Edward Minns achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Melbourne in April 2003. In the THE ESTATE OF THE LATE FREDERICK D. BLADIN auction, the work Nude Seated by a Stream sold for AUD 4,700.00 (€ 2,396.69) - well above the upper estimate of AUD 2,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Benjamin Edward Minns; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Negotiating the Pond sold at auction in April 2003 with the realized price of AUD 8,225.00 (€ 4,194.21).
