The auction ended at the price of EUR 30,000.00, which exactly corresponded to the upper end of the estimated price range of EUR 20,000.00 – 30,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Bartholomeus van Bassen - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Eine festliche Gesellschaft am Tisch in einem Renaissance-Saal., which sold at auction in September 2007 for CHF 192,000.00 (€ 115,680.71).

Die Arbeit A palace interior with an elegant company playing backgammon von Bartholomeus van Bassen wurde im Juni 2015 in der Auktion Old Masters & 19th century Art - (including Dutch Impressionism) bei Christies in Amsterdam versteigert. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von EUR 30.000,00 entsprach exakt dem oberen Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von EUR 20.000,00 – 30.000,00.
