Auction result misses estimated price range
In May 2000 a collector was able to acquire the work Diana the Huntress in a landscape by Barend Graat for USD 3,525.00 (€ 3,778.95). This price was achieved in the auction Old Master Paintings, Drawings and Picture Frames at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 4,000.00 – 6,000.00 set by the auction house. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Barend Graat - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Portrait of A Girl, Three-Quarter-Length, In A Red Dress And Brown Wrap, Cleaning Cherries In A Fountain, which sold at auction in November 2006 for EUR 12,000.00.
