Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work A Landscape With Two Peasants And Their Cattle Beside A Stream by Barend Hendrik Thier was auctioned at Sothebys in London in April 2008, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 3,000.00 – 4,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 2,500.00 (€ 3,187.15). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Barend Hendrik Thier achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Plantarum Selectarum in horto viri Nobilissimi Jaäci van Buren, dicto Americae, nutritarum quarum imagines viris coloribus repraesentavit Bernhardus Henricus Thier, Pictor excellentissimus niminibus propriis illustravit Nicolaus Meerburg, Horti Bota in September 2001 with an auction result of EUR 188,250.00.
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit A Landscape With Two Peasants And Their Cattle Beside A Stream von Barend Hendrik Thier im April 2008 bei Sothebys in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 3.000,00 – 4.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 2.500,00 (€ 3.187,15) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Barend Hendrik Thier erzielen.
