Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Aureliano Milani achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in January 2015. In the Old Master and British Drawings auction, the work The Abduction Of Helen sold for USD 37,500.00 (€ 33,215.23) - well above the upper estimate of USD 18,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Aureliano Milani; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot The Combat of Aeneas and Turnus sold at auction in January 2024 with the realized price of USD 40,320.00 (€ 35,238.59).
