Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2018 Christies in Hong Kong held the auction Asian 20th Century Art (Day Sale) Including a Selection of Japanese Woodblock Prints from Private Collections, which included the work Toddy Palm Tree Climber by Aung Khin. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of HKD 60,000.00 – 80,000.00, the actual price achieved of HKD 62,500.00 (€ 7,054.23) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Aung Khin - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Backstage at a Pwe, which sold at auction in May last year for HKD 153,000.00 (€ 18,164.38).
