Auction result misses estimated price range
In December 2008 a collector was able to acquire the work French Coffret Aux Murons (A Casket With Blackberries) by Auguste-Nicolas Cain for USD 3,750.00 (€ 2,694.16). This price was achieved in the auction The Sporting Sale: Equestrian, Wildlife & Maritime Art at Sothebys in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00 set by the auction house. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Auguste-Nicolas Cain - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work French Brillador And Fanfardon - Coupled Hounds, which sold at auction in December 2008 for USD 11,250.00 (€ 8,082.48).
