Auction result well in line with expectations
The work View of a town about a canal by August Siegen was sold in the PICTURES WATERCOLOURS DRAWINGS AND COPIES AFTER OLD MASTERS auction at Christies in Amsterdam in September 2000. The price achieved of NLG 10,531.80 (€ 4,854.14) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as NLG 8,000.00 – 12,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by August Siegen - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A busy Northern European port; and Another similar, which sold at auction in February 2012 for GBP 10,000.00 (€ 11,940.26).
