Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work "The Scout" by Arthur Briscoe was auctioned at Christies in London in May 2010, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 6,250.00 (€ 7,322.74). Admittedly, works by Arthur Briscoe have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Decks Awash in December 2006 with an auction result of GBP 33,600.00 (€ 49,866.61).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit "The Scout" von Arthur Briscoe im Mai 2010 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 8.000,00 – 12.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 6.250,00 (€ 7.322,74) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Arthur Briscoe auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Decks Awash im Dezember 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 33.600,00 (€ 49.866,61).
