Auction result misses estimated price range
In February 2003 a collector was able to acquire the work The Brother and Sister of the Artist playing Chess by Arthur Boyd Houghton for GBP 4,780.00 (€ 6,978.65). This price was achieved in the auction THE FORBES COLLECTION OF VICTORIAN PICTURES AND WORKS OF ART at Christies in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 6,000.00 – 10,000.00 set by the auction house. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Arthur Boyd Houghton - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Lalla Rookh, which sold at auction in September 2021 for GBP 18,750.00 (€ 21,815.88).

Im Februar 2003 konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit The Brother and Sister of the Artist playing Chess von Arthur Boyd Houghton für GBP 4.780,00 (€ 6.978,65) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion THE FORBES COLLECTION OF VICTORIAN PICTURES AND WORKS OF ART bei Christies in London erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 6.000,00 – 10.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Arthur Boyd Houghton mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Lalla Rookh beobachtet, die im September 2021 für GBP 18.750,00 (€ 21.815,88) versteigert wurde.
