Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Armenian Moonlight On The Mediterranean by Arsene Chabanian was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in April 2009, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 12,000.00 – 18,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 11,875.00 (€ 8,966.32). Other works by Arsene Chabanian have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in February 2007 by the work Coucher De Soleil Sur La Mer, 1898 at EUR 11,099.00.
