Auction result well in line with expectations
In April 2021 Bonhams in Hong Kong held the auction Southeast Asian Modern & Contemporary Art, which included the work Two Girls Returning from the Market by Arie Smit. It changed hands for a price of HKD 76,500.00 (€ 8,190.52) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of HKD 60,000.00 – 80,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Arie Smit achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Padi Fields in May 2019 with an auction result of HKD 3,605,000.00 (€ 412,591.26).
