Auction result well in line with expectations
In May last year Bonhams in New York held the auction American Art, which included the work La Champagne 22 x 36 1/8 in. (55.9 x 91.8 cm.) by Antonio Jacobsen. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 10,837.50 (€ 10,099.25) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Antonio Jacobsen achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Racing Schooners in September 2011 with an auction result of USD 224,500.00 (€ 166,926.91).
