Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work The Mocking Of Christ by Antonio de Bellis was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in February 2013, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 60,000.00 – 80,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 53,125.00 (€ 40,618.55). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Antonio de Bellis - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Saint Catherine Of Alexandria, which sold at auction in December 2019 for GBP 100,000.00 (€ 118,188.30).
