Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Four studies of actors from the Comédie Française, and a study of a raised right hand by Antoine Watteau was sold in the The Dr Anton C.R.Dreesmann Collection Old Master Pictures auction at Christies in London in April 2002. The price achieved of GBP 67,550.00 (€ 109,294.13) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 50,000.00 – 80,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Antoine Watteau achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Le Pèlerinage a l’Ile de Cythère in January this year with an auction result of USD 1,860,000.00 (€ 1,713,022.66).

Die Arbeit Four studies of actors from the Comédie Française, and a study of a raised right hand von Antoine Watteau wurde im April 2002 in der Auktion The Dr Anton C.R.Dreesmann Collection Old Master Pictures bei Christies in London versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 67.550,00 (€ 109.294,13) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 50.000,00 – 80.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Antoine Watteau erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Le Pèlerinage a l’Ile de Cythère im Januar diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.860.000,00 (€ 1.713.022,66).
