Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Antoine-François Callet could be acquired at Christies in New York in January this year for an unexpectedly low price. In the Remastered: Old Masters from the Collection of J.E. Safra - Selling Without Reserve auction, the work Portrait of the Comte de Cromot, Grand Surintendant to the Comte de Provence, seated at an easel, accompanied by his two daughters-in-law changed hands for USD 201,600.00 (€ 185,669.55) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 300, Other works by Antoine-François Callet have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in February 2013 by the work Portrait Of King Louis Xvi In Full Coronation Regalia at USD 350,500.00 (€ 267,986.85).
