Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In January last year Sothebys in New York held the auction Master Works on Paper from Five Centuries, which included the work Head and shoulders portrait of a young gentleman by Antoine Chazal. The »bidding war« ended at USD 8,190.00 (€ 7,304.67), 17% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Antoine Chazal achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Flore Pittoresque, 1818, presentation binding, red straight-grained morocco in May last year with an auction result of GBP 63,000.00 (€ 74,113.50).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Januar letzten Jahres führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Master Works on Paper from Five Centuries durch, in der auch die Arbeit Head and shoulders portrait of a young gentleman von Antoine Chazal zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 8.190,00 (€ 7.304,67) und damit 17% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Antoine Chazal erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Flore Pittoresque, 1818, presentation binding, red straight-grained morocco im Mai letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 63.000,00 (€ 74.113,50).
