Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Half-Dome, Merced River, Winter, 1938; And Jeffrey Pine, Sentinel Dome, Yosemite National Park, 1940 by Ansel Adams was sold in the The Range of Light: Photographs by Ansel Adams auction at Christies in New York in April 2014. It changed hands for a price of USD 11,250.00 (€ 8,111.03) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ansel Adams achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Grand Tetons and the Snake River, Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming in December 2020 with an auction result of USD 988,000.00 (€ 807,849.55).
