This artwork by Ann Purcell achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in July 2012. In the Christie's Interiors auction, the work Samurai sold for USD 3,750.00 (€ 3,045.07) - well above the upper estimate of USD 1,500.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Ann Purcell; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Night Mones sold at auction in July 2012 with the realized price of USD 6,875.00 (€ 5,582.62).
